| Guadalupe Dunes Scam |
| Some years back I drove to the ocean at the end of Main Street, known by some as the Guadalupe Dunes. As I drove in I drove past a small green pickup with cages in the back, with birds I now know as the least tern and the western snowy plover. Then I had never seen anything like them in the hundreds of times that I had surf fished there or explored the dunes. A tall, skinny male and a small female in their 20s took the cages into the dunes and came back with empty cages. I thought: "At last something else besides the dirty seagulls that use me and my vehicle for target practice!" Then, about a year ago, I saw the same green pickup there when I drove in. I saw the two get out of the vehicle, the female with a clipboard. She pushed the male towards the dunes and turned away from him to where she could not see him. He went into the dunes and started to scare the birds away from the nests by yelling and running and waving his arms. When he was done the female went into the dunes and started to count the empty nests. Conclusion: they had created "a natural habitat" that they could collect money "protecting" the birds that were " endangered"- without telling anybody that they were falsifying the numbers by scaring the birds away themselves! Without them nobody else was bothering the birds because they had already made sure the birds were gone- then they collected $$$$$$$$ while everybody thought they were heroes! I know they are not and now you know what they really are- thieves by fraud. |
