| Little Known Facts Why is the college named after him named Allan Hancock College'instead of GEORGE Allan Hancock?Allan Hancock College College is named that because at the time of the transfer of the land, buildings, etc his legal name was Georgianna Ellen Hancock! That is what was his father, Major Henry Hancock, put on his birth certificate at Orange Community Hospital, Orange County. The nurse said to Major Hancock that his wife, Ida Haraszthy Hancock had given birth to a girl; so,that is what Major Hancock wrote on the birth certificate. 70-some years later I had the pleasure to laugh (about the name Georgianna) all the way through witnessing my friend George's signatures on the transfer of title of the buildings, land, etc that he gave to the college district. I would have considered it great if the college district leaders had named the college Georgianna Ellen Hancock College. But, darn, they named it Allan Hancock College.p.s. Georgianna Ellen Hancock waschanged to George Allan Hancock in Orange County, Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County, and Monterey County. When I signed as a witness to his signing those forms, I said to George " No matter how many counties say your name is George, I still will call you Georgianna, sometimes". Then George laughed at me. A little bit about Richard Chenoweth or Chenowith (I wish he would make up his mind) Years ago the mother of Richard ChenoSomething filed suit against the estate of Major Henry Hancock, George's father- saying that she was the mother of the person we now call George Allan Hancock(in the Monterey County lawsuit files she says Georgianna Ellen Hancock). Without even a preliminary hearing, the judge dismissed the lawsuit, laughing at her in court. Since then, Richard ChenoSomething has had the dream of millions of $$$$$$$$$$$$ in his eyes and has tried to influence people towards his way of thinking by using the museum and the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and other local people to spread lies so that he can, he dreams, he can make $$$$$$$$$$$ by taking from the estate of George Allan Hancock and the estate of Marian Hancock. Fact: even though she( Marian Hancock ) recognized her intended responsibility as godmother of Richard ChenoSomething, she also recognized her responsibility as a member of society by ripping and tearing her gifts to Richard ChenoSomething so the gifts would be useless to him and she would be honest to the community. Fact: One time Richard ChenoSomething walked towards George Allan Hancock, with a fake smile on his face(ChenoSomething's face), to which George raised two clinched fists and said: "Stay away from me. You are dangerous". ChenoSomething lost the color in his face and RAN away. An old man won that meeting over coward ChenoSomething. Tip: if ChenoSomething hands you a piece of paper, then he probably made it himself and then says it is from whatever source he says- I have seen him do that- how many have been taken in by this conman ChenoSomething? Off ChenoSomething, to something I considered positive. A few did, but not many: An old friend of George, Erl, had a wife, Sue Sword, who was "off her rocker", to be nice, but I saw in her a kind of beauty that few people have. Some would probably say that she was crazy- she would have imaginary conversations with imaginary friends on a phone that was not even connected to anything. I thought it was a bit of wonderful that she had kept that part that most people throw away just because they get to a certain age to become ADULTS. In her mind, in her forties, and then fifties, she would be a princess, then a hero of some kind or whatever she wanted. Pretending to be head of Rosemary Farms or the Santa Maria Valley Railroad or whatever did no harm. Nobody in Rosemary Farms of the railroad believed her. Sometimes they were a little happy because she did not have the responsibilities they had. The most she did was count the As or Ns or whatever letter on every page of a magazine they (heads of Rosemary Farms and the railroad) gave her to count. That was to earn the paycheck she was given every week- received with much pride. An excuse to help an old friend, Erl, George Allan Hancock was good to many, even to a very lovable(to me), certified nut(others). |
